At Strike School, we understand that every child’s education journey is unique. Not every student learns the same subjects in the same way. In fact, if that philosophy of “one size fits all” in learning is enforced, students are less likely to succeed academically.

This is exactly why we enforce personalized learning. But just how important is it? Let’s take a look!

What is Personalized Learning?

Personalized learning, also known as individualized learning, is a practice where learning is customized for each student’s strengths, weaknesses, interests, aspirations, etc. Almost anything in their education can be customized: learning experiences, field trips, academic support strategies, programs, and more!

Each student typically gets a unique learning plan based on how they learn, what they know, their interests, and their needs, which is the complete opposite of the “one size fits all” approach typically seen in many schools.

How is Personalized Learning Beneficial?

Higher Student Engagement

Personalized learning calls for higher student engagement. Students will spend more time learning and actually absorbing the materials because their learning plan addresses their unique educational needs.

Greater engagement leads to higher levels of motivation, and students will be more focused on their work. This then leads to greater efficiency and more productivity. See where we’re going here?

Customization

This is a great benefit of personalized learning. Students can design their own learning pathways based on their interests and desires. This makes learning more fun for them because it turns learning into something that they look forward to doing, making them more likely to continue in the future and take it seriously.

They can also choose different learning methods, such as group learning, independent learning, one-on-one sessions, or whichever works best for them. As we’ve said before, every child learns differently; what works for one may not necessarily work for another. They should be taught with the method that helps them learn in the best possible way, so that they can grasp the materials and enjoy getting an education from an early age.

What do you think? After reading this, do you think that personalized learning is important? Our guess is that you said yes.

If you personally teach your child or teach children that aren’t your own, you can give them a simple assessment that will tell you how to personalize each of their learning plans. Giving young learners the choice to individualize their educational path can lead to success in the future.

If this sounds a little daunting to you, however, Strike School has your back! We offer virtual classroom and homeschool help options that both allow for personalized learning so that each of our students can succeed! View our options HERE.
