Strike School Is Recognized as a Common Sense School

Common Sense, the national nonprofit organization dedicated to helping kids and families thrive in a world of media and technology, has recognized Strike School as a Common Sense School.

Strike School has demonstrated its commitment to taking a whole-community approach to preparing its students to think critically and use technology responsibly to learn, create, and participate while preparing them for the perils that exist in the online realm, such as plagiarism, loss of privacy, and cyberbullying.

With the right support, kids can take ownership of their digital lives, engage with real issues, and change their communities for the better. The recognition acknowledges our school’s commitment to creating a culture of digital citizenship.

Why This Matters for PreK–12 Online Learning

As a fully virtual school serving PreK through 12th-grade students, we are deeply invested in the digital habits our students develop. In an online environment, technology isn’t just a tool. It’s the entire classroom. That makes digital citizenship an essential part of our curriculum and culture.

Here are three reasons this recognition is so important to us:

✅ We’re preparing students for the real (digital) world.

From a young age, our students are navigating digital spaces. Teaching them how to make responsible, informed choices helps prepare them for life beyond school, whether they’re interacting with others on social media, completing assignments, or researching online.

✅ Safety and privacy are non-negotiable.

Our families trust us to create a safe learning environment, and that includes their child’s digital footprint. With increasing concerns about online privacy, scams, and screen time, our commitment to digital citizenship helps students stay protected and parents stay informed.

✅ We want learning to go beyond the screen.

We don’t just want students to scroll. We want them to think. Digital citizenship encourages meaningful engagement with content and helps students build empathy, creativity, and critical thinking skills that will benefit them both online and off.

What We’re Doing at Strike School

Our team integrates digital citizenship lessons into the learning experience at every grade level. Whether it’s practicing safe online research, discussing responsible social media use, or understanding how to collaborate respectfully in a virtual setting, our students are gaining tools they’ll use for a lifetime.

This recognition is just the beginning. We’re proud to be a Common Sense School, and even prouder of the digital leaders our students are becoming. Learn more about us at THIS LINK.
