Personalized learning gives your child a plan built around how they learn. Accreditation makes sure that plan sits inside a school whose work is reviewed against outside standards. When you compare online schools, the two belong together, and it is worth knowing why.
What accreditation means
Accreditation is an independent review of a school. An accrediting organization looks at how the school teaches, how it measures learning, how it is run and how it keeps improving. A school that meets those standards is accredited for a set period and must be reviewed again to keep it.
For families, accreditation is a signal that a school’s courses, grades and records come from a program that has been checked by someone outside the school.
Strike School is accredited by Cognia
Strike School is accredited by Cognia, and our current certificate is valid through June 30, 2028. That accreditation covers our fully online K-12 program, whether your child learns with a Learning Coach, in a Virtual Classroom, or on a Bundle plan.
Why it matters for your child
- Records that carry weight. Transcripts and report cards come from an accredited school, which can help when your child moves to another school or applies to college.
- A diploma from an accredited school. On the Bundle plan, your teen’s records and diploma come from Strike School, an accredited school.
- College-ready options. Our core courses are NCAA-approved (high school code 853455), and we partner with ASU for dual enrollment.
- State funding. Strike School is an approved provider in 16 state ESA and scholarship programs, including Texas TEFA.
Accredited and personalized: how they fit together
Some families worry that a personalized school means less structure. At Strike School, the structure is what makes the personalization work:
- Every student gets a personalized learning plan, and we accommodate each student’s needs, with or without an IEP or 504.
- A certified teacher is part of every plan except Homeschool Online.
- Mastery-based learning: students show 80% or higher competency before moving on.
- Small live classes of 4-6 students in our Virtual Classrooms.
If you are comparing schools, our guide on how to choose an accredited online school walks through the questions to ask.
Questions to ask any online school
- Who accredits you, and until when?
- Are your teachers certified, and how often will my child work with one?
- How do you personalize learning, and how do you check that my child has mastered each concept?
- Can my child earn college credit or take NCAA-approved courses?
- Can we use our state’s ESA or scholarship funds with you?
